The Deceitfulness of Riches. Are you caught in its trap? The truth may surprise you.
The phrase the deceitfulness of riches is used only once to my knowledge and that is in the parable of the sower. The parable in which Jesus said” if you can't understand this parable, how will you understand any of them”
Mat 13:22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
If you read the whole parable two things are pretty clear. 1. The “seed” being sown is the “word of the kingdom” and 2. The place this seed is being sown is inside your heart, example;...they received it with gladness..
In verse 22 Jesus is apparently talking about the effect “deceitfulness of riches” has upon the word sown into your heart. It may be good to understand for yourself what is the word of the kingdom that has been sown into your heart.
Some ideas to ponder on are
1. The son of God; meaning a Christ child that manifest through your life. Christ in you..
2. The calling on your life. Whether this desire or direction came by prophetic word, a desire to create, a desire to serve or help a certain race, culture, or group of people that are suffering in a certain way. There are many different ways a calling will manifest. This calling will be unique to you and most likely will only be understood and felt truly by you.
3. And of course a certain life style you desire in which you are on the top of your game manifesting success in the dominion God gave you.
Now that we have a clue what the seed might be which was sown into your heart. How would the deceitfulness of riches choke the growth inside of you. First off notice that riches were not called wicked or not useful.
It has always puzzled me that most of the people who called riches wicked spend most of their life trying to earn or gain the wicked stuff?
No, Jesus was revealing where our heart is at and what our unholy thoughts of lack do to this seed sown in our heart. A seed that is destined to grow into a kingdom in which all the birds of the air can lodge under its branches.
The deceitfulness of riches is a lie in which our feelings say that riches rule the world. It is true that if we are to succeed in any endeavor we must first have the money or riches to move forward, but the governing factor is not the riches, its our beliefs.
The truth is that “vision rules” and not riches. Vision rules and has always ruled our hearts and direction and always will. We have allowed the lack of money to create a subnormal vision concerning the seed of the kingdom that was intrusted to us. To be deceived into thinking that riches rule our choices means that we have bowed our heads to a lower god “Riches”. Riches are not wicked except in the heart of the one who believes it to have more power than they do. Money or riches have no power of their own, only the power we give them.
There are just as many if not more of our poor that have bowed their heads to riches and said riches limit them from doing what they would if they had money. This thinking says that God put something in me heart that I can not go and do, He must have made a mistake. This is as bad as Moses saying that He couldn't do what God asked, but at least Moses repented of this silly notion.
Your vision rules in which the manifestations of this seed of the kingdom are desire, imagination, expectation, creativeness and many other powerful feeling that precede any physical manifestation.
Bring the seed of the kingdom
into maturity by treating it with honor, giving it time, visualizing
and embracing it, feeding it, loving and caring for it. Treat it as
the awesome tree it is to become.
